In order to prevent possible double bookings and retain flexibility, our schedule is kept in a paper diary in our flight office. We can take bookings 6 months in advance. Bookings can be made during office hours, via telephone or in person. We generally do not accept email bookings at present because of the delay and possibility of double bookings. Both members and trial lessons can be booked to fly 7 days a week. Our slots last for 90 minutes each. The first slot of the day begins at 9.30am, with the last slot depending on the seaon. This gives the following slots: 09.30, 11.00, 12.30, 14.00, 15.30, 17.00, etc. Trial lessons are permitted one booking at any one time, whereas members may have multiple bookings up to a sensible limit. Aircraft may also be hired for more than 90 minutes by members for cross country flights. Daily minima apply for day bookings. Please refer to the current Flying Orders Book kept in the flight office for the minima. Available instructors are listed at the top of each diary page. Trial Lessons Ring (0191) 286 1321 with your unique voucher code and ask to arrange a time for your voucher. Vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. The expiry date is printed on the voucher. Please book your flight in plenty of time ahead of the expiry in case of a run of bad weather which forces string of cancellations. There is no 'best time' to book your flight. WARNING If you book your flight near the end of validity but it is canceled due to bad weather and your voucher subsequently expires, the school is under no obligation to conduct the flight. Please book early. New Students To get started either ring or come to the office and ask to book a flight. You should inform the staff member that you wish to start training and whether or not you have had a trial lesson in the past. You are then free to ring in and book flights as you wish. Transient Pilots We welcome visiting pilots from other schools and clubs. Before renting an aircraft solo we require copies of your licence and medical. You will also receive a club checkout from one of our instructors. This normally consists of area orientation and a few circuits. Bookings in our diary are made through a staff member. A 'one-off' flight will conducted as dual instruction. Regular flights can be made, but we recommend becoming a full member to benefit for the reduced cost of instruction and hire. It is generally best to fully inform your instructor of your situation, so that accurate training records can be kept between the clubs. |
